La luce del Rinascimento / Das Licht der Renaissance

Lupo Burtscher’s exhibition campaign for The light of the Renaissance focuses on three motifs of the show: The portrait of Giuliano de’ Medici and a scene from the Story of Virginia the Roman, both works by Botticelli, and Bergognone’s Breastfeeding Madonna. Warren Chappell’s 1938 Lydian typeface gives print materials their additional identity.

The paintings, isolated on a white background, breathe the spirit and emotions of the Renaissance. They decorate posters in large and small format as well as invitations and folded cards. The latter works as a mini-catalogue, with individually separable paintings in pocket size format. In high-resolution, it depicts the eight works presented in the exhibition, all of which are on loan from the Bergamo’s Accademia Carrara, with a short art-history contextualisation on the back.

The The light of the Renaissance catalogue brings together texts by young art scholars concerning the concepts and dynamics of Renaissance art. In addition, the booklet contains further visual material and drawings. The project was initiated by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano-South Tyrol (Department of Italian Culture).
